CONSIGNMENT INFORMATION

FEES & COMMISSIONS:

  • Horses: $75, includes catalog fee. This fee reserves space in our auction for your horse.
Commission: 8% on horses. Minimum $25 commission per horse.
  • Tack: Small fee, determined by Auction Office. We do not accept tack at every auction, please call to confirm.
    Commission: 20% tack.
  • Wheeled vehicles (trailers, buggies, carts)*:$25 per item.
    Commission: 10%.

  • * The items do not need to be pre-consigned. We will accept them on sale day. Please have trailer titles in good order or they will be sold “As-Is”.
  • Commission is IN ADDITION TO the consignment fee. This is taken out of the ultimate selling price of your horse or item. The check you receive will be for the price of your lot, minus the commission.

THE PROCESS:

  • Horses must be pre-consigned. Consignments close the Monday prior to the auction. There are no exceptions. Trailers and buggies are accepted sale day without problem. Please have trailer titles in good order, or they will be sold as is. Tack consignments are occasionally closed prior to the auction. Please check our ads or call to ask if we will accept tack for the date in question.

  • To consign your horse, you must fill out the consignment form. These are available from us by mail or fax, or on our website. Fill it out and return it to us either by mail or fax WITH PAYMENT, either by check or credit card. NO HORSE IS ACCEPTED WITHOUT PAYMENT. This is printed on the form as a reminder. We do not need copies of Coggins or papers at this time. Please bring the originals with you on sale day.

  • We accept horses for consignment to our next auction as soon as the previous one is over. It is in your best interest to consign your horse early.

  • We always have our own horses to sell on auction day as well as many consigned horses. To be fair to all, we sell 5-10 of our own horses then a group of consigned horses, then our own, then consigned and so on. We fit consigned horses into the line up in the order in which they were consigned, ie, a horse that has been on file and paid for several weeks will get an earlier number than one that came in on deadline day.

  • Owners or agents must stay for the day to be responsible for their horses.

  • We offer riders for your consigned horses for a $25 fee. This puts one of our riders on your horse, only though the auction ring, and ONLY if the horse is SAFE to ride. Please let the office know ahead of time if you will need a rider. The fee must be paid before the horse gets added to our list.

THE CATALOG:

  • New for 2008 we will be offering a catalog for each auction. The catalog fee is included in the $75 consignment fee. Catalog deadlines will be 5 PM Monday prior to the auction.

  • Email is the preferred format for catalog text and pedigrees.

  • There will be no substitutes. Horses will be sold in catalog order. Horses not cataloged will sell last.

  • Your horse is cataloged for the benefit of advertising that horse, thus giving everyone a fair opportunity to bid. Once your horse is consigned, advertised and cataloged, it is in your best interest to bring him to the auction. There will be NO refunds for consignment services provided for any reason.

TIMES:

  • Consigned horses can arrive here anytime after 9:30 on sale day. We do not have room for horses any earlier than that as we have our own horses to house. We do not take in horses the day before an auction. Please make appropriate arrangements.

  • This said, there is no rush to be here first thing as we don’t start horses till approximately 2 PM. Auctions, like horse shows, do not always run on a strict time schedule. We do our best to follow the advertised time schedule for the day.

PAPERWORK, OFFICE DETAILS:

  • The office is usually open to accept consigned horses by 10 AM. Please have all of your original paperwork with you then. This includes transfers if you intend to sell your registered horse as registered. The state vet comes to each auction to verify Coggins tests. It is YOUR responsibility to have your original test dated within 6 months of the auction. Should your test be denied by the state vet, we do not offer refunds or credits as we have done our prep work to be ready for your horse.

SELLING YOUR HORSE:

  • We offer the opportunity for consignors to pay a $20 fee to post a picture and write up about their horse on our website in the days prior to the auction. It is how we try to market our horses to our best advantage and it helps people know what to expect. It is especially helpful if you have a unique horse, meaning one not seen at every auction- gaited horses, driving horses, specific breeds with show records, etc. The fee must be paid and the info emailed to us as early as possible, no later than the Monday before the auction.

  • When you get your horse here, feel free to ride it in our warm up ring to show potential customers how it rides. If the horse is acting up, or you must lunge it, please keep the safety of the other riders, especially kids, in mind. It is up to you if you want to allow people to try your horse. We don’t on sale day, but if you feel comfortable, then we won’t stop you.

  • We sell horses through the ring in numbered order. Please know your horse’s number and have him ready when it is getting close. We often use the PA to announce where we are in the auction ring so everyone in the back can hear how long till their turn. If we are riding your horse, it is still up to you to bring it up to us, usually with tack.

  • As your horse goes into the ring, please be there to answer any questions there may be about your horse, as well as ok the final selling price. You have the option of accepting or rejecting the final bid.
Once your horse gets sold, please return it to the same stall it was, and leave a halter and leadrope with it so the new owners can truck it easily. We charge a fee if we have to provide halters and ropes for consigned horses.

PAYMENT:

  • Consignors’ checks are mailed the Wednesday after the auction, once we have completed all the paperwork.
